Bureau
The Assembly has a Bureau consisting of four members (the President of the European Parliament, the Speaker of a European national Parliament and two Speakers of Parliaments of countries from the Southern shore of the Mediterranean), who chair the Assembly in rotation and on an annual basis.
The Bureau is responsible for coordinating the work of the Assembly and represents the Assembly for matters regarding relations with other institutions.
The Bureau members for the 2008-2012 period, appointed at the plenary sitting in Athens, are the European Parliament, Jordan, Italy, and Morocco.
